What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments or reviews on the site we collect the data shown in the comments/review form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment or review, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

If you contact us using our contact form we do not store that information in our website. Anything you type in that form is sent to us (un-encrypted) by email. Please do not use the contact us form to send sensitive information like credit card details.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Who we share your data with

As described in various parts of this document, some data is shared with a variety of third parties.

Google – For analytics

Facebook – The front page contains our Facebook page as an embedded item, they will record that you visited in line with their privacy policy (see section on embedded content above).

Simunix Ltd – A small number of products sold by I Love Mixed Media are subject to statutory minimum age requirements. These include, but are not limited to, bladed items, aerosols and those based on certain solvents. If you purchase one or more of these items we are required to show that you are meet the associated statutory minimum age. To that end, when a customer makes such a purchase we will share your name and address with our age verification partner, Simunix Ltd. This ensures that we do not sell potentially dangerous items to persons under 18.

Stripe/PayPal – We share your name, email address, delivery address and order details with our payment processor(s) as directed by their terms of service with us to allow them to process payments on our behalf. This data is managed by them in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment or review, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Similarly if you sign up for notifications and/or the newsletter, we also store the personal information you provide at sign up. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments or reviews, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Storing Payment Methods

Within the My Account section (and at checkout) there is the option to store your payment details for future purchases. This data is held securely by Stripe on their secure servers not by I Love Mixed Media.

How we protect your data

We store only the information you provide to us (typically name, address, email, telephone number and order history). We do not see, handle, process or store any financially sensitive information or card details. Such processing is done directly on the site(s) of our payment service provider(s).

The data we do store is protected by strong passwords and by the fact that our website and admin console are served only over secure encrypted connections.

What third parties we receive data from

When you make payment through our site the payment processor provides us with necessary information to track the payment. Usually the transaction ID. None of your financial data or card details are ever passed to us.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

We do not do any automated decision making and/or profiling with your data, but we may from time to time, and at our sole discretion, use customer purchase histories to provide targeted discounts to loyal customers.
